Step 1 of 4: Move

Step 1: Move

First, the move itself

Start with the pickup and destination.

Street address is best, but a neighborhood works.

Even just the borough is fine if you're not sure yet.

The details you know are worth telling us

An older repair, a loose joint or a surface that marks easily may be hard to see in a photograph. Tell us about the piece’s condition and any handling instructions from its owner, maker or insurer. Those details help us assess what the move needs.

We offer a free video or in-person survey when photos and measurements leave questions. The assessment includes the route through both properties, particularly tight turns, stairs and doorways. We discuss the specific item and work with you before quoting.

It can be part of the rest of your move

You can book a single item or include it in a larger home move. Naming the pieces that need special attention early helps us account for them alongside the ordinary furniture and boxes.

If your main concern is an awkward fit, photograph the doorway or staircase as well as the item. If it is the condition of the piece, show us the area that worries you. We would rather talk through a question than leave you guessing about how the move will work.

Specialty moving FAQs

Do you move pianos in NYC?

Yes. Send the piano type, approximate dimensions, photographs and access at both addresses. We will assess the specific piano move and explain what can be included.

Can I book one piece of artwork or antique furniture?

Yes. A specialty move can be for an individual piece. Give us the item details, both addresses and the requested date so we can review the trip.

What should I photograph before asking for a quote?

Show the whole piece and any fragile area, existing damage or repair you want us to understand. Include relevant doorways, stairs and landings if the route is tight. Add measurements where you have them.

Can you tell me exactly how my item will be moved?

That discussion follows the assessment of the piece and access. Share any handling requirements before booking so we can talk through the work needed for your item.

Can you handle my building’s COI?

Yes. Send the building management contact or its written requirements and we will coordinate the certificate of insurance directly.

How is a specialty move priced?

We consider the item, its condition and dimensions, the route and the access involved. You receive a guaranteed flat quote for the work agreed after that assessment. Taking longer does not change the agreed price.
