Small moves in NYC, from a studio down to a few boxes

Ten boxes and a bed frame get the same pads and wrapping a four-room household gets. The whole load sits on one flat fee you agree before the day.

Step 1 of 4: Move

Step 1: Move

First, the move itself

Where you're leaving and where you're landing.

Street address is best, but a neighborhood works.

Even just the borough is fine if you're not sure yet.

Small moves

Send us the list, however short it is

Small loads get turned away often enough that we built a service around taking them. Tell us what is coming and we settle one flat fee, fixed before the first box leaves the apartment. Where a building asks for a certificate of insurance or wants its freight elevator booked, the management company hears from us.

On the morning itself the crew wraps the furniture where it stands and marks each box for the room it should reach. The truck’s spot is worked out ahead of time, so nobody circles the block. Our own base is in Sunnyside, Queens, and our federal and state moving licenses are there to check whenever you like. You can always call (212) 203-3171 and read the list to us instead.

Part of every job

What comes with every small move

A ten-box load still needs its elevator reservation and its certificate for the building, and the fee you settled before the day already covers the lot.

  • A flat fee guaranteed before anything is carried
  • A certificate of insurance sent to whichever building asks
  • An elevator slot reserved when your building runs on one
  • A legal curb space found for the truck at both doors
  • Wrapping and padding on every piece, however few there are
  • Protection on floors and door frames along the route out
  • Every box labelled with the room it is going to
  • Federal and state moving licenses anyone can look up

One flat price, locked in before moving day

Your quote is a guaranteed flat fee for the whole job. If moving day runs long, you still pay the number you agreed.

Flat-fee pricing

What a small-move quote is built from

What is actually coming
ten boxes price differently from a packed studio, so the form asks you to list it out.
The climb at both ends
a walk-up on the fifth floor makes even ten boxes a long morning on the stairs.
The truck's spot on each block
even a light load needs the truck within carrying distance of the door, so we read the parking signs on both blocks before the day.
How far the load travels
the mileage between addresses goes into the fee before you ever see it, and it never grows on the day.
Boxes, if you want them packed
hand over as many boxes as you like and the crew fills them for you, with that work priced inside the same fee.

Price your small move

A short list takes a minute to type, and we'll send back a guaranteed price built from that list alone. Nothing is rounded up to apartment size.

Add-on

Packing, from one shelf to every box

Even a short packing list has a way of stalling at the kitchen shelf you keep avoiding. Hand that shelf to us, or every box on the list, and the packing joins the flat fee for the move.

Packing services

Storage, picked up and brought back

If the new place isn’t ready yet, we arrange the storage and load your things in ourselves, still wrapped from the move. When you have the keys, we bring it all back.

Small move FAQs

Is my move too small to book?

No. A studio's worth and under is what this service is built for. Send the list through the quote form and the job gets its own crew and its own guaranteed flat fee.

How do you price a job this small?

From what is on the list and what the stairs look like at both ends. The quote we send you is a flat price that is fixed once you accept it, and a light load usually means a lower one.

Will my building really want a COI for ten boxes?

Quite possibly. Managed buildings tend to ask for a certificate of insurance whenever movers come through the lobby, however little is being carried. Name your building when you ask for the quote and we arrange the certificate with the management company ourselves.

Can you take the bed apart and rebuild it at the new place?

Yes. If the frame has to come apart to leave the room, we take it down and keep the bolts in a bag taped to the frame itself. It goes back together where it lands.

Can I add packing help to a small move?

Yes, in any amount. Some people hand over just the glassware, and others want every last box filled for them. Whatever you pass to us gets written into the same guaranteed flat fee as the move itself.

How much notice does a small move need?

Give it the notice you would give any move. End-of-month weekends fill first whatever the size of the job, and your building's managers still need the certificate in hand before the date. If the date is nearly here, that is a last-minute move, and we take those too.

Heading to another state?

We move that route, we just haven’t written the page yet. Leave your details and we’ll come back with a quote.
