Step 1 of 4: Move

Step 1: Move

First, the move itself

Where you're leaving and where you're landing.

Street address is best, but a neighborhood works.

Even just the borough is fine if you're not sure yet.

Name the piece, we'll price the trip

Tell us what the piece is and which two addresses it travels between. Buildings can ask for a certificate of insurance even when only a dresser is arriving, so we take that paperwork up with the management company ourselves. Elevator time gets booked wherever a building runs on one, and the truck’s legal spot at the curb is settled before the morning. An awkward piece is often easier to explain out loud, so call (212) 203-3171 and describe it to us.

On the day the pads go on where the piece stands, and the route out gets its runners and its padded doorways before the first corner swings through. We work from Sunnyside in Queens under federal and New York State licenses you can check for yourself.

Comes with the job

What moving one piece still includes

Even when the whole job is one wardrobe, the elevator still gets booked and your building still gets its certificate. The price you agreed before we set out already covers every line here.

  • One flat price, guaranteed before anyone rings your buzzer
  • The COI arranged by us whenever your building asks for one
  • Elevator time reserved ahead of the carry
  • A legal place for the truck settled in advance
  • Each piece padded and wrapped before it leaves its room
  • Hardware sealed in a bag that stays with its piece
  • Floor runners down before the first piece moves
  • Moving licenses, federal and state, on the public record

One flat price, locked in before moving day

Your quote is a guaranteed flat fee for the whole job. If moving day runs long, you still pay the number you agreed.

How a furniture quote gets its number

What the piece is
a sleeper sofa hides a steel fold-out frame that makes it far heavier than it looks, so name the piece exactly in the form.
How many pieces are going
every extra piece brings its own wrapping and its own trip down the stairs, and the quote counts each one you list.
The stairs and elevators involved
a fifth-floor walk-up at either address means five flights under a padded sofa, so tell us about the stairs early.
The trip between the two doors
the drive from one address to the other is already priced in before we send you the price.
Whether anything comes apart
a bed frame or a table that has to be unbolted adds time at both ends, and the quote carries that from the start.
Anything with real history
an antique or anything truly fragile belongs on specialty moving, where the doorways get measured and the padding goes on in layers before the piece leaves the room.

What would that piece cost to move?

Tell us the piece and the two buildings it moves between. The price we send you is guaranteed, and nothing that happens on the staircase adds to it.

Add-on

Packing for what the furniture holds

Whatever fills the drawers and shelves has to get there too. We box it up before the furniture is wrapped and mark each carton for the room it belongs in. Those boxes ride on the same quote as the piece.

Packing services

Storage, picked up and brought back

If the new place isn’t ready yet, we arrange the storage and load your things in ourselves, still wrapped from the move. When you have the keys, we bring it all back.

Furniture moving FAQs

Will you come out for a single sofa?

Yes. One sofa gets a crew of its own and the same wrapping a full apartment would get. The pads go on while it still stands in your living room, and the price you agreed covers the whole trip.

How do you price a single piece of furniture?

From what the piece is and how it gets out of one building and into the other. The form asks about the stairs and the doorways at each address. The price we send back is flat and guaranteed, and a slow freight elevator on the day cannot move it.

Do you take furniture apart and put it back together?

Where the piece needs it, yes. A bed frame or a table gets unbolted before the carry, and every screw and washer goes into a bag taped to the largest section. Whatever came apart is put back together before we leave your new place.

Can you collect something I bought secondhand?

Yes, and it happens a lot. Put the seller's address and your own into the form and tell us what the piece is. The pickup end gets the same stairs and parking check as the delivery end. If the seller's building wants its own certificate or runs a service elevator, we take that up too.

My building wants a COI for one delivery. Is that my problem?

No, it becomes ours. Managed buildings often want a certificate of insurance whether a whole household is arriving or a single armchair. Mention the building in your quote request and the paperwork goes to its management company from us.

How far ahead do I need to book a furniture move?

Sooner is easier, and the reason is mostly paperwork. A certificate of insurance has to clear your management company's office before moving day, and booking early gives it the room to do that.

Heading to another state?

We move that route, we just haven’t written the page yet. Leave your details and we’ll come back with a quote.
