Step 1 of 4: Move

Step 1: Move

First, the move itself

Start with the pickup and destination.

Street address is best, but a neighborhood works.

Even just the borough is fine if you're not sure yet.

Make the move fit your household

Maybe you are moving with children, combining two homes or trying to clear the apartment around a full working week. The help you need will be different in each case. We can move a home you have packed yourself, take care of selected rooms or include full packing.

A free video or in-person survey gives us a chance to see the rooms and talk through the pieces that need thought. That might be an antique cabinet, a piano or a bed you are unsure will fit upstairs. We assess the actual move with you before agreeing the work.

Unpacking starts with how you pack

A box marked for its new room is easier to find than one marked for the room it left. Use the new room names as you pack, and keep the things you will need that first evening separate from the main load.

If we are packing for you, tell us which rooms are ours to handle and which belongings you want to keep with you. Packing normally happens on moving day. For a planned two-day home move, we pack on the first day and move on the second.

Residential moving FAQs

Can I get a quote while I am still deciding what to keep?

Yes. Start with your current list and mark the furniture you are undecided about. Let us know when those decisions change the load so the final quote matches the move.

How do you price a whole-home move?

The inventory, access at each property, route and any packing or storage shape the quote. We give you a guaranteed flat price for the agreed work. The amount does not go up simply because the move takes longer.

What if we cannot move straight into the new home?

We can arrange storage while you wait for the keys or work to finish. Tell us your move-out date and the expected gap, and we will explain the available pickup, storage and return arrangement.

Can you move artwork or a piano with the rest of the house?

Yes. We move artwork, antiques, pianos and awkward pieces. Identify them when you inquire so we can assess the item and its route through both properties. See our specialty moving service.

Can you take apart and rebuild furniture?

Ask about the specific piece when you request a quote. Photos and the make or model can help us assess the work and confirm what can be included before you book.
