California Privacy Rights
Effective date: August 6, 2026
Keepsake Moving & Storage is a New York City moving company. Some of the people who contact us are California residents or are moving to or from California, so their information may be covered by California privacy law. That law (the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) applies to businesses above certain thresholds, and we likely fall below them. We are not going to lean on that. Regardless of whether the law technically requires it, we extend the rights described on this page to every California resident whose personal information we hold.
This page covers your California-specific rights. For the full picture of what we collect and how we use it, see our Privacy Policy.
The short version
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We collect what we need to quote and run your move, we use it for that purpose, and the only people who receive it are the service providers who help us operate: an email delivery service, our own database and customer-contact system, and Google for address autocomplete and website analytics. There are no data brokers, no ad networks receiving your details, and no lists being rented out.
What personal information we hold
Everything we hold comes from you filling in a form on this site, or from emailing or calling us directly. The categories are:
- Contact details: your name, email address, and phone number, from the quote form, the contact form, or the email signup (which collects only your email address).
- Move details: the addresses you are moving from and to, your move date, home size, answers to the service questions in the quote form, and anything you write in the notes or message field.
- Technical information: when you submit a form, our server records your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, and the page you submitted from. Our website analytics (Google Analytics) also collects standard usage data such as pages visited and approximate location.
We do not collect sensitive personal information as California law defines it: no government IDs, no financial account numbers through this website, no precise geolocation tracking, no biometric data.
Your rights
Right to know and access
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, where it came from, what we use it for, and who we have disclosed it to. You can also ask for a copy of it.
Right to correct
If something we hold about you is wrong, whether that's a misspelled name, an old phone number, or the wrong move date, you can ask us to fix it.
Right to delete
You can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you. We will delete it from our records and ask our service providers to do the same, except where we need to keep something for a legitimate business or legal reason: records of a completed move that we are required to retain, for example, or information needed to resolve an open claim or dispute. If we keep anything, we will tell you what and why.
Right to opt out of sale or sharing
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is nothing to opt out of, and we do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information. If that ever changed, we would update this page and our Privacy Policy first and give you a way to opt out before anything else happened.
Right to non-discrimination
Exercising any of these rights will never affect the service you get from us. You get the same quote, the same pricing, and the same care whether you have asked us to delete everything or never contacted us about privacy at all.
How to exercise these rights
Email us at kieran@keepsakemoving.com with "California privacy request" in the subject line, or call (212) 203-3171. Tell us which right you want to exercise and the email address or phone number you used with us, so we can find your records. You can also use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We will ask for confirmation that you gave them permission.
How we verify it's you
Before we hand over or delete anything, we need to be reasonably sure the request is really from you. In practice that means matching the request to information we already hold, usually by replying to the email address on file, or asking you to confirm details only you would know, such as the addresses on your quote. We will never ask for more information than we need to verify you.
How quickly we respond
We will confirm we received your request promptly, and we aim to complete it within 45 days. If a request is unusually complex and we need longer, we will tell you why and give you a realistic timeline.
Who receives your information
As described in our Privacy Policy, your information goes only to service providers acting on our instructions: the email service that delivers our messages, the database and customer-contact system we run ourselves, and Google, which processes addresses you type into the quote form's autocomplete field and provides our website analytics. These are service-provider relationships, not sales or sharing.
