Williamsburg asks two different questions on moving day, and the answer depends on how close you are to the river. Along the waterfront near Domino Park, the condos and rentals in the 11249 stretch run like managed buildings: a freight elevator you book for a window, a loading dock or side entrance the doormen point you to, and a certificate of insurance the management company wants on file before the truck arrives. A few blocks inland, the South Side tells a different story. The prewar walk-ups off Bedford Avenue and the side streets toward Grand Street are stairs and more stairs, with a tight turn near the ground floor that every sofa has to negotiate. Parking is its own small campaign here. Bedford, Berry, and Metropolitan are alternate-side with no loading zones to speak of, so we work around the street-cleaning hours and put the truck as close to your door as the block legally allows. The converted factory lofts around Metropolitan add one more variable: a single freight elevator shared with the rest of the building, which is why we measure the wide pieces against the car and the doorways before anything leaves the apartment.

Do the waterfront buildings in Williamsburg need a certificate of insurance?
Almost always, yes. The newer condos and rentals along the East River near Domino Park run a COI desk, and management wants the certificate naming the building on file before a crew loads in. Send us the requirements when you book and we get the COI over to their office ahead of the day, so nobody is standing in the lobby sorting paperwork on the morning.
How does parking work for a move on Bedford Avenue or Berry Street?
Most of the South Side is alternate-side parking with no dedicated loading zones, so we plan the truck around the street-cleaning hours and get in early where we can. On the busier stretches of Bedford and Metropolitan we find the closest legal spot to your door and keep the carry short from there.
Can you move a converted loft with one freight elevator?
Yes.
