Step 1 of 4: Move

Step 1: Move

First, the move itself

Start with the pickup and destination.

Street address is best, but a neighborhood works.

Even just the borough is fine if you're not sure yet.

Plan around the whole move

Start with where you are going and what you want to take. If the household includes stored belongings, another pickup or furniture headed to a family member, include those parts in the conversation.

We offer residential moving and smaller moves, so a short furniture list is welcome too. You can explain the move by phone or request a free video or in-person survey.

Look at the property as well as the contents

Steps outside the entrance matter alongside the stairs inside. Show us the route from the property, and mention any furniture you are worried about getting through the doorway. The same questions apply at the destination.

For a managed building, send its moving instructions and contact. We coordinate directly on certificate-of-insurance requirements. Artwork, antiques and pianos can be included when we review the move.

Help when the timeline is still taking shape

We can add packing for selected rooms or the whole home, normally during the moving-day visit. If your move-out date comes first, we can arrange storage. For a destination beyond New York, see long-distance moving and ask us to review the route and dates.

Questions about moving in St. George

Do you move between St. George and other NYC boroughs?

Yes. Keepsake serves Staten Island and the other four boroughs. Include any extra stop when you describe the move.

Can you move just a few pieces of furniture?

Yes. We can quote selected pieces on their own. Tell us what they are and the access at the pickup and destination.

What should I show during a survey?

Show the rooms and storage areas included, the larger or fragile pieces, and the route through the property to the entrance. A free survey is available by video or in person.

Can you arrange storage while I wait to move in?

Yes. Explain the dates you know and what needs to be stored. We can discuss storage with the move or as a separate service.
