Step 1 of 4: Move

Step 1: Move

First, the move itself

Start with the pickup and destination.

Street address is best, but a neighborhood works.

Even just the borough is fine if you're not sure yet.

Look at the contents before choosing the help

Your home may include artwork, antiques, a piano or furniture you would like us to review individually. A free video or in-person survey gives you the chance to point those out and explain what is coming to the new property.

If you are downsizing, identify what has another destination or needs storage. We can discuss those parts alongside the main move, with senior moving available when its approach fits your circumstances.

Keep both buildings in the conversation

Pass on the management contact and moving instructions for each address. Keepsake handles certificate-of-insurance coordination directly. Any moving hours or access window you have been given belong in the scheduling conversation too.

If a piece looks difficult to get through the new entrance, raise it during the survey. The current home’s elevator or doorway only tells us half of what we need to know.

Decide what you want us to pack

We can pack selected rooms or the full home, including fragile contents discussed in advance. Packing normally happens on moving day, with a separate first day only when the job is planned as a two-day move. See packing services for the options, or include your preferences in the inquiry.

Questions about moving in Upper East Side

Can you look at antiques before the move?

Yes. Tell us which pieces need attention and use a free video or in-person survey to show their size, condition and access.

Who handles the COI for an Upper East Side building?

Keepsake coordinates directly with management on the certificate of insurance. We need the building contact and its written requirements.

Can I arrange a move while I am downsizing?

Yes. Explain what is going to the new home, what has another destination and what is undecided. We can discuss moving and arranged storage around that plan.

Is packing included automatically?

Packing is included when you request it and it is set out in the quote. You can choose selected rooms or the entire home.
